What a perfect day for a garden party！

Anyone for some juicy watermelons.

Professor will divide the watermelon 

into two equal parts.

So each of your guests gets the equal share.

This slice of the watermelon is in a circle.

Which circle is divided into two equal parts?

When we divide the circle like this, 

we have two equal parts.

Each part is called one half.  

And two halves make up one whole.

Each part is called one third.

Three thirds make up one whole.

Each part is called one fourth.

Four fourths make up one whole.

We can also use fraction to show the shaded parts.

The bottom number of the fraction 

is called denominator.

The top number of the fraction 

is called numerator.

The denominator tells us 

how many equal parts of the whole there are.

The numerator tells us

 how many parts of the whole we have.
