Capital brimming with cultural heritage 

On July 27, 2024, the Beijing Central Axis was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This made people in Beijing feel proud of such a world cultural heritage and also contributed to the protection of heritage sites.  2024年7月27日，北京中轴线被列入联合国教科文组织世界遗产名录。这让北京市民对这一世界文化遗产感到很自豪，也助力了对这些遗址的保护。 

Song Haojie, from the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau, said the Beijing Central Axis is very important to China. It shows confidence in Chinese culture. It also helps China become a leading country in socialist culture and promotes mutual learning with other nations.   北京市文物局的宋豪杰表示，北京中轴线对中国来说非常重要。它展现了（我们）对中华文化的自信。它也助力中国成为一个社会主义文化强国，并促进与他国的相互学习。 

This heritage is crucial for the protection of Beijing's old city areas and three main cultural belts, including the Grand Canal, the Great Wall, and the Western Hills and Yongding River.    这一遗产对于保护北京的老城区和三大文化带——大运河、长城和西山永定河至关重要。 

Beijing now ranks at the top among cities by number of World Heritage Sites in the world. With the addition of the Central Axis, Beijing is now home to eight World Heritage Sites. This city has developed good ways and rules to protect and develop these ancient and important sites.   如今，在全球拥有世界遗产的城市中，北京拥有的数量排名第一。随着中轴线的加入，北京的世界遗产数量达到了八个。这座城市发展出了好的方法和规则来保护和发展这些既古老又重要的遗址。
