Kit Finds a Mitt.

Kit played baseball with the Jets.

All the Jets had mitts to help them play. Kit had left her mitt at home.

Gus was the first batter for the Rockets. He hit the ball hard.

“I have it!” yelled Kit as she jumped for the ball, but it went right over her head.

Kit felt sad. If only she had her mitt!

Barb was the second Rocket to hit the ball.

“I have it!” Kit yelled again. She did get the ball, but it hit her hands so hard that she dropped it.

Now Kit felt sad. So did the rest of the Jets.

Then Hank hit the ball for the Rockets.

Kit raced for the ball and yelled. “I’ve got it this time,” but it flew right past her.

“Gosh, Kit,” Ron said, as he took off his hat. “ You aren’t helping today. You can’t catch without a mitt. You can hurt your hands when you try.”

Then Kit smiled and said. “Thanks Ron. You gave me an idea. Now I know what to do,” she said.

When the next Rocket hit the ball. Kit got it without a mitt. She got it in her hat!
