Today is Saturday, June 20, 2020. We learned about addition, subtraction and a math story.
Q: How many blocks are there?
A: There are 5 blocks. There are five ones. Five ones is five.
Q: What is four tens and three ones?
A: On the left side, one ten is ten, four tens is forty.
A: On the right side, three ones is three.
A: So four tens and three ones is forty-three.
Let’s read a math story-A Party at Dog’ House.
A friend of Dog’s is our neighbour Dan.
With 8 boxes of bones in back of his Van.
In each box there are 10 yummy treats.
That’s a lot for just one dog to eat!
Q:How many dog bones are in Dan’s van?
A:10,20,30,40,50,60,70,80.There are 80 bones.
As Dan was driving to a party for Dog,
His van ran over a very big log.
Bump!Bump!The van gave a jump,
And so 4 boxes fell out with a thump!
Q:How many boxes fell out of the van?
A:4 boxes fell out of the van.
Q:How many bones is that?
A:10,20,30,40. That is 40 bones.
Cat and Mouse each gave a shout
When they saw the 4 boxes of bones fall out.
They grabbed every box that they could see.
Mouse carried one box.
Q:How many boxes did cat carry?
A:Cat carried three boxes.
Down the road , Dan swerved past a tree.
The boxes bounced high-and out fell 3!
Bang!Bam!Boom!They crashed to the ground.
One box burst open,leaving bones all around.
Q:How many boxes fell out of the van?
A:Three boxes fell out of the van.
Q:How many bones is that?
A:That is thirty bones.
Frog and Fox saw the bones fly past.
They ran to the boxes and grabbed those bones fast.
Frog got 2 bones plus 1 full box,
and 8 bones plus 1 full box went to Fox.
Q:How many bones does each animal have?
A:1 full box equals 10 bones,10 and 2 more is 12; 10 and 8 more is18.
So Frog has 12 bones, fox has 18 bones.
Q:Who has more bones?
A:18 is greater than 12, so Fox has more bones.
At Dog’s party,poor Dan was quite blue.
He only had 1 box: “Oh, boo,hoo!”
Then-surprise!-Cat and Mouse had brought 4.
And Fox and Frog came with 30 bones more.
Q:How many boxes were brought to Dog’s House?
A:8 boxes were brought to Dog’s house.
Q:How many bones did everyone bring to the Dog’s House?
A:Dan brought 10 bones; Cat brought 30 bones;Mouse brought 10 bones;Fox brought 18 bones. Frog brought 12 bones.
Q:How many bones is that?
A:That is 80 bones.

l 将以下数学元素与单词相对应，大声朗读：

2. 笔头作业
解决下面的数学问题，尝试写出四个步骤：
1) What do we need to find?
2) Is it plus or minus?
3) What are the key numbers?
4) What is the number sentence?
运算出来后，再尝试用位值进行描述。拿13+25举例：
个位数运算：3 plus 5 equals 8,
十位数运算：1 plus 2 equals 3,
There are 8 ones and 3 tens, so this number is 38.
PS：数学运算对于中国的小朋友来说并不难，但是我们课堂上注重培养的是孩子的数学思维。用英文去描述运算的过程，对于培养孩子的数学思维和逻辑性是很重要的，所以当小朋友运算来后，一定要引导小朋友用语言去描述其过程。
