S1- Tacky the Penguin - A Play- Without Neatly
Narrator:
On an icy land, there once lived a group of penguins.
They were named Goodly, Lovely, Angel,
Perfect and Tacky.
Goodly:
Hello everyone.
I’m Goodly.
I know what to do and how to do it.
I can control my emotions.
Lovely:
Hello everyone.
I’m Lovely.
I like to try new things.
I like to ask questions.
Let’s explore the world together.
Angel:
Hello everyone.
I’m Angel.
I know how to work with others.
Working together is success.
Perfect:
Hello everyone.
I’m Perfect.
I’m like water- always shaping, shifting, bending but never breaking.
Goodly, Lovely, Angel,and Perfect,
Together:
We are always polite.
We can march.1-2, 1-2, 1-2, 1-2...
We can dive gracefully.
We can sing beautifully.
(Do re mi )
Doe, a deer, a female deer
Ray, a drop of golden sun
Me, a name I call myself
Far, a long, long way to run
Sew, a needle pulling thread
La, a note to follow sew
Tea, a drink with jam and bread
That will bring us back to doe (oh-oh-oh)
We have a friend.
His name is Tacky.
Tacky:
Hello, everyone.
I’m Tacky.
I am an odd bird.
I greeted with a hearty slap.
I marched 1,2,3
I cannot dive gracefully and
often do splashy cannonballs.
I cannot sing beautifully.
(sailing)
I am sailing, I am sailing
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
We live happily on this icy land.
(If you are happy)
Narrator:
One day, there came the hunters.
Thump thump thump....
Hunter:
We are gonna catch some pretty penguins.
We will march them with a switch.
We will sell them for a dollar.
And get rich, rich, rich.
Goodly, Lovely, Angel, and Perfect,
Together:
Let’s run away and hide.
Narrator:
Tacky stood alone and
greeted with a hearty slap.
Tacky:
Hey, what’s happening?
The hunters chanting:
We are gonna catch some pretty penguins.
We will march them with a switch.
We will sell them for a dollar.
And get rich, rich, rich.
Tacky:
“PENNNNGUINS?”
“Do you mean those birds
that march neatly in a row? ”
“Do you mean those birds
that dive so gracefully?”
“Do you mean those birds
that sing such pretty songs?”
All penguins sing sailing.
Sailing
I am sailing, I am sailing
home again 'cross the sea.
I am sailing, stormy waters,
to be near you, to be free.
Hunters:
It’s horrible.
I cannot stand it.
I don’t want to hunt these penguins.
This could not be the land of
the pretty penguins.
No one likes such penguins.
They cannot sell for dollars.
Let’s run.
Narrator:
The hunters could not
stand the horrible singing.
They ran away with their hands
clasped tightly over their ears,
leaving behind their maps and traps
and rocks and locks,
and not looking at all rough and tough.
Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Perfect and Tacky:
Thank you Tacky.
( The More We Get Together)
Narrator:
Goodly, Lovely, Angel and Perfect
hugged Tacky.
Tacky was an odd bird
but a very nice bird to have around.
