Tom and Gus like to hike.
Tom and Gus wake at a lake.
Tom has a map.
"Look at the map. Do you see this hill? We will go there. We will pass trees. We will see a lot."
Tom and Gus pass trees.
Tom and Gus sit on moss.
There is a bug.
Tom and Gus cannot see the sun. This is fog. It is wet. "Look at this hut. We will go there."
Tom and Gus hop in mud.
Tom and Gus go to the hut.
Gus has a log. It is hot.
"We can go up the hill." Tom and Gus go up and up. Tom can see a bog. It is full of mud.

Tom and Gus get to the top. "We can see a lake. We can see the sun set. We can see a lot."
Position and Direction:
One day Professor was out at the beach.
Q: What is inside the bottle?
A: It’s a treasure map.
Q: What is position?
A: Position is the exact location of an object.
Q: How many islands are there on the treasure map?
A: There are five islands.
Q: How many geographic directions are there?
A: There are four geographic directions, N,S,E,W.
N represents North.
S represents South.
E represents East.
W represents West.
Q: What is the position of the Sunny Island?
A: The Sunny Island is in the south of the Treasure Island.
Q: What is direction?
A: Direction is the line or path in which something moves.
Q: What are the four directions?
A: They are Left, Right, Down and Up.
Q: What’s this?
A: It’s a compass. The compass can show us directions.
本课教学目标：
The Hill:
1. 图文结合，阅读文章The Hill了解文章大意，初步引导孩子逐渐由关注图画过渡到文字，在阅读过程中培养孩子能够预测，回顾思考能力
2. 引导学生回答四类问题，培养学生能够主动思考的能力；
3. 通过阅读积累部分常见词汇：map，bog, pass,lake,hut,sunset
Position, Direction:
学生们需要掌握两大概念：1.首先学习方位的概念：Position is the exact location of an object.
2.理解Direction的含义：Direction is the line or path in which something moves
3.能表达简单的left,right,down,up表示方位的词
4.学生可以表达表示东西南北（east，west，south,north）的方位词,学习使用指南针，通过指南针compass定位自己所在组在教室相对白板的位置，并表示出来。
